What we collect

When you create an account, we collect your email address (via Supabase Authentication, or via Google if you sign in with Google). When you upload a video, we store the video file, its generated captions, and your styling choices in our database, tied to your account.

How your video is processed

To turn your voice into an accurate caption, your audio goes through a few distinct passes, each one checking the work of the one before it, rather than trusting a single guess.

  • A first listen (Groq): creates an initial transcript of your audio and marks out where each phrase begins and ends.
  • A correction pass (Google Gemini): listens to your actual audio again alongside that first transcript, fixes anything that was misheard, and handles translation between languages when you ask for it.
  • A language dictionary: a list of verified spellings and everyday terms for Pidgin, Yoruba, Igbo, and Hausa that every caption is checked against, so real local expressions come out right instead of being "corrected" into something they're not.
  • A second, specialized listening model (Pro accounts): for Pro subscribers, we run one more independent listen using a model built specifically for Pidgin, Yoruba, Igbo, and Hausa, then compare it against the first listen so the final caption isn't resting on just one system's read of what was said.

Your audio is sent to these providers only to generate your captions, and for no other purpose. These third parties don't use it to train their own models, and we don't sell your video, audio, or captions to anyone, ever. We don't control how these providers retain data internally beyond what's disclosed in their own privacy policies, but nothing you upload goes further than what's needed to produce your captions.

Training ZiYarn's own model

We're working toward captioning Pidgin, Yoruba, Igbo, and Hausa with a model we own, instead of depending on third-party AI providers indefinitely. On the free plan, your uploaded audio and the corrected captions produced from it may be used to train and improve that model. This data is used only for that purpose, is never sold, and access to it is limited to building ZiYarn's own captioning system.

Pro accounts can turn this off entirely from the account settings dialog. Free accounts can't opt out — using your data to improve accuracy for Pidgin, Yoruba, Igbo, and Hausa speakers is part of what keeps the free plan free.

Where your data is stored

Your account details, video files, and captions are stored in ZiYarn's own database and file storage, not a third-party backend-as-a-service. Access to your own videos and profile is restricted to your account in application code. Other users cannot see your videos or profile data.

Payments

Subscription payments are processed by Flutterwave. ZiYarn never receives or stores your card details. Flutterwave handles payment collection and returns a confirmation to us that a payment succeeded.

Your choices

You can delete any video you've uploaded at any time from the editor. You can request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us. You can reset your password at any time from the sign-in page.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as ZiYarn's features change. Continued use of ZiYarn after an update means you accept the revised policy.
